Eligibility
The Murray Institute funds a wide range of graduate degrees and certification programs for individuals involved in the educational ministries of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. All academic degrees and certificates are awarded by the University of St. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½.
Participants enrolled in a Murray supported graduate degree or certificate program must adhere to the expected outcomes of their individual program handbook and achieve adequate and successful progression towards program completion.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for admission to a Murray-funded graduate academic program at the University of St. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½, candidates must meet certain employment and academic requirements as well as program completion requirements.
Employment Requirements
Eligible applicants must:
- Be employed full-time (benefits eligible) through the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis in educational ministries (e.g., Catholic school teachers, principals and assistant principals, parish religious educators, and directors of religious education)*.
- No minimum years of service are required.
- Obtain a letter of recommendation from their principal or pastor submitted within the St. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ graduate application portal.
- Submit the archdiocesan eligibility form found within the Murray Institute funding application to the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
- Commit to working within the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis for the duration of the program and for 3 years upon completion of the program.
- Verify employment with the Murray Institute annually through the duration of the program and for 3 years upon completion of the program.
Academic Requirements
Murray applicants must meet the academic and professional requirements of the program they are applying to. Some degree programs require specific professional experience to be considered for admission. Please refer to the Approved Programs page for links to information.
Policies
- Murray Institute funding is limited to the number of credits required by the graduate program the student has been admitted to. If a student wishes to take additional courses beyond those required by the graduate program, the student must reapply to Murray.
- A student classified as “Non-degree” is allowed to take 6 credits over 2 years.
- Murray Institute funded students are expected to make adequate progress through the degree program. If a student does not take a course for 3 consecutive semesters (including summer), Murray Institute funding will be suspended and reapplication may be required.
- Murray Institute funding remains active for up to 4 years to complete a graduate degree and up to 2 years to complete a graduate certificate. If this timeline is not met, funding will be suspended and reapplication may be required.
- If a student withdraws from a course after the date of full reimbursement or fails a course funded by Murray Institute, Murray Institute funding will be revoked for a retake of that course or any course that fulfills that requirement.
- Murray Institute Funding recipients will adhere to the employment requirements agreed to within the Murray Institute funding application.
